Mohamed Amra: Paris prosecutor announces "extremely rapid handover" to France

"The cooperation we have with the Romanian authorities allows us to anticipate an extremely rapid transfer." The Paris public prosecutor, Laure Beccuau, assured on Tuesday, February 25, on France Info that Mohamed Amra would be transferred to France shortly.
The Parisian magistrate also specified that "the decision to surrender is now final", despite the criminal's appeal on Monday evening against this surrender to the French authorities as part of the execution of a European arrest warrant against him.
Arrested in Bucharest, the fugitive had initially made it known, through his lawyer , that he was in favour of being repatriated to his country of origin, France, within 30 days. Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of Justice, even declared on Monday that he hoped for a return "in less than ten days" .
However, the appeals considered by the 30-year-old drug trafficker should not prevent his return to France. This is in any case what Laure Beccuau assured on Tuesday morning. "It was confirmed to me that the decision to surrender was final and that no appeal, including an appeal, was likely to call into question the possibility of the surrender deadlines," assured the Paris prosecutor.
Thus, the latter said she was "completely confident in the idea that Mohamed Amra could be handed over to us in the coming days", speaking to our colleagues at France Info.
Mohamed Amra, one of the most wanted men in France after his escape on May 14, 2024 at the Incarville toll booth in Eure, was arrested on Saturday, February 22. 284 days after his disappearance, the 30-year-old drug trafficker was apprehended by the Romanian police in Bucharest thanks to a major operation deployed by the French authorities. An escape, which caused the death of two prison officers , provoking strong emotion in the country.
